Bubblegum - Cartoon.jpg

James Fitzpatrick is a visual artist whose creative journey began as a child, visiting the home studios of local Art Society members. Early encouragement from practicing artists nurtured his curiosity—whether learning the classical balance of still life in charcoal and oil, or the delicacy of local landscapes in watercolour, James was taught not only to observe, but to imagine.

Now an artist and educator in his own right, James has led

portrait classes within the same society that inspired him, fostering a spirit of shared learning and experimentation. His own work is rich in influence—drawing from Japanese culture, science fiction, spirituality, and cartoons—often realised in vivid, “bubblegum” tones that bring warmth and vibrancy to the figures he paints.

For James, English Bridge Studios is a vital space—a place

where creativity flourishes within community, and where the

often-solitary act of making art is lifted by connection,

collaboration and shared purpose.
