Harvey Taylor is a lifelong creative whose journey began with papier-mâché puppets and plasticine Beatles in junior school and has evolved into a fiercely experimental art practice rooted in play, imagination, and activism. A graduate with First Class Honours in Creative Arts, Harvey’s early career saw him writing, directing, and performing in agitprop theatre, as well as creating politically-charged films—including one made undercover at the South African Embassy during apartheid.
Today, Harvey works primarily with acrylics, exploring bold, expressive styles and developing new visual languages. He is passionate about inclusive creativity and regularly collaborates with children and adults with learning difficulties. During lockdown, he and his foster family hosted daily puppet shows with neighbours, keeping spirits high and imagination flowing.
Harvey’s current projects include developing artworks and artefacts for a fictional ancient civilisation and laying the groundwork for a new puppet initiative. His practice is playful, layered with meaning, and rooted in the belief that creativity connects us all.
