An Art Cafe evening of sketchbooks, workbooks, journals and creative process

This month’s Art Cafe invites you into the pages where ideas often begin.

A few of the English Bridge Studios artists in residence will be sharing their sketchbooks and workbooks, offering a relaxed look at the drawings, notes, studies, colour tests, experiments and unfinished thoughts that sit behind finished pieces of work.

Visitors are very welcome to bring their own sketchbooks, journals, notebooks or creative workbooks too. You might draw, paint, write, collect ideas while out and about, press flowers, make notes, record colour combinations, plan projects, or simply enjoy keeping a book that helps you notice the world a little more closely.

The evening will be relaxed and informal, with space to look, draw, sketch, paint, chat and share ideas. You can join in as much or as little as you like. Bring your own book if you have one, or just come along, have a cuppa, and enjoy seeing the many different ways people use their pages as part of a creative life.

You do not need to be an artist to come along. This is for anyone who is curious about sketchbooks, journaling, drawing, painting, note taking, creative habits, or the quiet little rituals that often sit behind the work people choose to show.

Optional donations are welcome and help support the upkeep of the building, allowing us to continue running artist led events and care for this shared creative space into the future.

Parking is available nearby at Abbey Foregate car park.

Disabled access is possible by arrangement.

Interested in presenting?

We welcome expressions of interest from artists and makers who would like to take part in a future Arts Cafe. Formats can be informal and experimental, from talks and demonstrations to discussions or sharing work in progress.
