About the event

Our next Arts Cafe welcomes artist Faye Lorente Shyllon to English Bridge Studios.

Faye will be talking about her work and her exhibition La Pared, which opens with a Private View at Gateway Gallery on Thursday 28 May. The exhibition explores Faye’s connection to Andalucía, bringing together architectural forms, textured surfaces, walls, windows, domestic grilles and repeated motifs through painting, drawing and mixed materials.

At Arts Cafe, Faye will share more about her practice, the ideas behind the exhibition, and the visual references that shape her work. The evening will also include a simple hands on activity inspired by her creative process, giving people the chance to explore shape, colour, mark making and stencil based approaches in a relaxed setting.

Arts Cafe is a welcoming monthly event for artists, makers and anyone curious about creativity. Each session is slightly different, with space for talks, demonstrations, conversation and practical activity. You do not need to be an artist to come along. Just bring curiosity and an interest in the arts.

This is a lovely opportunity to see Faye’s exhibition at Gateway Gallery, then continue the conversation with her at English Bridge Studios.

What is Arts Cafe?

Arts Cafe is a monthly evening event at English Bridge Studios, bringing artists, makers and the wider public together in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Each session is a little different. Some evenings may include an artist talk, a demonstration, a practical activity, an informal discussion, or a chance to see and share creative work. The format is intentionally flexible, with the emphasis on conversation, curiosity and connection rather than formal presentations.

Arts Cafe is open to everyone. Whether you are an artist yourself, studying, thinking about getting back into making, or simply interested in creativity and culture, you are very welcome.

You do not need any prior experience to come along. Just bring curiosity and an interest in the arts.
