Caris Jackson is a mixed media collage artist based at English Bridge Studios in Shrewsbury. Her joyful, maximalist works reimagine iconic performers and theatrical scenes, layering vintage prints, recycled fabrics, and found materials into vibrant stories full of colour, character and flair.
Caris’s creative journey began early, sparked by a visit to an art college degree show at the age of four. That moment planted the seed for a lifelong passion that led to a Fine Art degree at Liverpool John Moores University and a vibrant career spanning practice, teaching and community engagement. As a qualified tutor, she’s worked in universities, schools, and creative outreach programmes—including inside HMP Parc in South Wales—sharing her belief that art should be for everyone.
Theatre has a special place in her work, inspired by childhood trips to Wolverhampton’s Grand Theatre and tales of her great-grandmother’s sweet shop next door. That sense of magic and nostalgia continues to shape her practice, which blends the playful with the poignant, and history with imagination.
Caris’s work has been exhibited across the UK, including:
– A large-scale permanent installation for the London Hilton Metropole, telling the story of London’s historic markets
– A series of portraits celebrating pioneering women in the arts, displayed on 10ft billboards at the 2023 & 2024 Latitude Festivals
– A popular range of velour towels created in collaboration with AGA Cookshop
She also designs a growing collection of homewares, clothing and upholstery fabric featuring her original collage work—bringing a touch of theatrical storytelling into everyday spaces.
